THE VALUE OF A GAP YEAR
I’m in my final term at school and I’ll be going to university after the summer. …….. my friends have decided to take a gap year, so they won’t start their …….. for twelve months. They are convinced that they will …….. useful experience before becoming a student, I’m not so sure.
My sister went …….. for six months two years ago. She backpacked around Australia and travelled home via Asia. She …….. a good time, but she didn’t really learn …….. . Quite the opposite – she thought it was a holiday and she …….. out of the habit of doing routine things. She got up late every morning, lay on the beach all day, and went …….. every night. She didn’t do any part-time …….. and so she didn’t learn any new …….. . She wanted to help people so she was going to do some …….. work but she didn’t …….. contact with any charities while she was away. The trip also cost her a fortune – she doesn’t …….. in travelling light, so she bought …….. everywhere that she stopped.
I hope my schoolmates enjoy their trips, but I’m looking …….. to starting university – the sooner you start, the sooner you finish.
